A mentor once told me you’ll never truly appreciate a full stomach until its been empty for a while. That contrasting statement allowed me to search for a lot of meanings in life. For instance, there are contrasting sounds in music, contrasting colors in painting, and contrasting or opposite personalities. When I’m working on a product or musical element for a client, and I get tired of hearing my own music, I remember that for someone else, it will be their first time hearing or seeing it.

I can then appreciate my own work knowing that my smart and painstakingly detailed work will be heard and perceived by someone with different ears, experiences, personalities, and taste of music and art. Those opposites gives me the power to appreciate compliments of affinity towards my work.
